Singapore’s Transport Capital has appointed Michael de Visser as senior adviser.
De Visser, who previously was head of shipping at NIBC, recently left the Dutch Bank after it sold its ship finance business to Hamburg Commercial Bank.
De Visser will provide guidance on expanding Transport Capital’s maritime specialist services, using his background in business development, asset financing and deal-making.
Transport Capital founder and managing partner Philip Clausius said: “We are thrilled to start this strategic alliance with Michael.
“His unparalleled experience in maritime finance and proven track record in executing complex transactions will be a tremendous asset as we continue to expand our service offerings and deliver innovative solutions to our clients.”
De Visser began his shipping banking career at ABN Amro. He worked for NIBC for more than 24 years.
He said: “I am excited to advise Transport Capital at this pivotal time in the maritime industry. The company’s forward-looking approach and commitment to sustainability align perfectly with my vision for the future of maritime finance.
“I look forward to contributing to Transport Capital’s continued innovative approach as a leading maritime specialist services platform.”
In September, Transport Capital hired former DNB Bank executive Nikos Papanestis to head its Greek business.
In June, it recruited Norwegian banking veteran Tom Kjeldsberg to launch its new Oslo office.
Transport Capital also has offices in Beijing, Hamburg, Frankfurt, New York and Geneva.
It has 30 vessels under management.
