Chinese yard Wison Offshore & Marine completed testing on a first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit which is to be delivered to Exmar.
Wison said the performance test was carried out at its Nantong yard in the presence of classification societies and Exmar. Wison said the FLNG unit was tested without leaving the shipyard by using LNG to supply gas without connection to a pipeline.
Wison project manager Wei Huaqing said the project “cemented Wison’s position in floating LNG turnkey projects around the world.”
Exmar has commissioned the project for the now cancelled Caribbean FLNG project with Pacific Exploration and Production. Exmar said it is looking to employ the 500,000-tonne-per-annum (tpa) barge unit on projects in either the Middle East or West Africa.
