Gener8 Maritime has extended its fleet renewal effort with the sale of one of its aframax tankers.
New York-listed Gener8 has sold the 105,000-dwt Gener8 Pericles (built 2003) in an $11m deal.
Shipbrokers say the transaction marks a tick down in tanker asset values.
Gener8 has been aggressively renewing its fleet with a number of older vessels shipped out for further trading or demolition to make room for its VLCC newbuildings.
It has also sold a couple of newer vessels as part of an effort to strengthen its balance sheet.
When it reported its second quarter results, executives said further asset disposals were a possibility.
The sale of the Gener8 Pericles leaves the company with just one more aframax in a stable of 35 tankers.
