John Michael Radziwill’s GoodBulk has confirmed the acquisition on a ninth capesize bulker.

TradeWinds reported in August that the owner had bought the 177,000-dwt IVS Cabernet (built 2007) in a deal that took its overall feet to 12 vessels.

In reporting a profitable second quarter last night, GoodBulk confirmed the former Sigma Star ship was set to be delivered in the next few days.

It will also take delivery of the 185,000-dwt Cape Liberty (built 2005), which will be renamed Aquakatana on 17 September.

GoodBulk says its nine capsizes have been purchased at an average price of $16.5m.

The owner has a cash balance of $9.5m and has added to its firepower with a new loan from Credit-Suisse.

GoodBulk is the first solo publish shipping venture for Radziwill, a former Euronav director.
