P&I club Skuld is rejigging its London management team as it eyes further growth from its Norwegian headquarters.
Gregory Thomas, its chief business development officer, is moving to Oslo on 1 July to continue to drive the developments of Skuld’s global commercial business from there, it said.
In turn, Matthew Burton, head of London P&I and a senior vice president, has been appointed head of business in London.
Stale Hansen, Skuld’s president and chief executive, said: “Greg has played a vital role in the successful growth in business in the Skuld London office.
"I would therefore like to thank him for all his efforts and excellent work. I look forward to welcoming him back to our headquarters in Oslo."
He added that Skuld London will continue to play an important role for its global operations.
"With Matt’s solid experience in the London and international markets and his dedication to the business, I am confident that our London office will continue providing our members and clients the high-quality service and competence they rely on."
TradeWinds has reported that protection and indemnity insurers were enduring one of the toughest rounds of policy-renewal negotiations in recent years in 2020, as they attempt to turn around three years of declining premium income.
Most of the 13 member clubs of the International Group of P&I Clubs were asking their members to pay more for cover next year, with general increases ranging between 2% and 7.5%.
Four clubs — the UK P&I Club, Britannia P&I, American Club and Skuld — said they will not announce a general increase.
Instead, they will agree rates based on one-to-one negotiations with members with an increased focus on claims and risk profile, rather than take a general increase as the starting point for negotiations.
