Law firm Hill Dickinson has been encouraging shipping professionals to Stride to Singapore in the name of charity.

For almost a month in March and April, nearly 100 staff from around the world participated in the challenge in the form of a virtual journey from London to Singapore to raise funds for the Mission to Seafarers.

The journey, 21,631 km in total, took in the ports of London, Rotterdam, Piraeus, Limassol, Dubai, Mumbai, Tuticorin and Singapore, raising awareness about the Mission’s invaluable work across the globe.

The journey was powered by the participants running, walking, cycling, swimming and skiing, and then contributing their individual distances to their team weekly totals.

Teams from the London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Piraeus offices got involved.

The law firm said it had been a great opportunity for colleagues and clients to come together, albeit virtually, get active, share their daily experiences and raise money for a fantastic cause.

To date £4,202 ($5,420) has been raised, although the teams are keen to push that figure higher.

Fundraising is open until 1 June. Donations can be made at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/StridetoSingapore

The event organisers were Rachel Hoyland, Jack Redrup, Christina Petroulia and Lydia Gordon.
