Greek owner Sky Mare has condemned one of its masters arrested in the UK on drunkenness and assault charges.
Humberside Police told TradeWinds a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a marine vessel and assault following an incident in Hull on 18 March.
"Officers were called to King George Dock around 7pm following reports of an altercation on a boat. The man was taken into custody," it added.
Sky Mare, which controls the 2,600-dwt RMS Wanheim (built 1990), told TradeWinds: "Charges pressed from the authorities against master are rightful and strongly endorsed by Sky Mare.
"Beside Sky Mare, such incidents stigmatise the whole shipping industry. It goes without saying that we condemn and we will establish further safeguard against the unpredictable human element."
A replacement master has reportedly taken the ship on to the port of Gunness.
The Athens company has a fleet of four cargoships and MPPs.
