Norway's Westcon Yards has appealed a court verdict which awarded $45m to floatel owner Prosafe.

Stavanger city court decided in favour of Prosafe last month in a row over the conversion of a tender support vessel (TSV).

Westcon was ordered to pay Prosafe NOK 344m plus interest and NOK 10.6m in legal costs.

Prosafe said it is "prepared to continue to defend its case in order to maintain or improve on the result in the first instance."

The case was related to a "substantial cost overrun" of Westcon's price estimate for the conversion of the 25,383-gt Safe Scandinavia (built 1984), Prosafe said.

Westcon had claimed additional compensation of NOK 306m ($38.97m) plus interest, whereas Prosafe disputed this and claimed a substantial repayment.
