Golar LNG has denied that it is in final discussions with India’s Swan Energy over a proposed $450 million floating LNG import facility near Pipavav in India.
The Norwegian shipowner indicated that while it has had talks with Swan in the past it is not currently in negotiations over providing a vessel for the project.
A Swan spokesman told LNG Unlimited last week that his company is waiting on final price quotations from Golar and Excelerate Energy for a planned 3 million tonnes per annum unit to be located at an existing port site in Gujarat on the west coast.
He said Swan has also produced its own design and completed the engineering for a floating storage and regasification unit.
The spokesman claimed in addition that Swan has been in talks with companies offering to sell second-hand LNG carriers that could be converted into FSRUs.
