ExxonMobil is directing the bulk of its LNG to Asia.
In a second-quarter briefing, vice president of investor relations and company secretary David Rosenthal said: “We’re not bringing any LNG to speak of into the US market.”
He said there have been no changes in the delivery destinations for LNG from Qatar, where the company is a production partner.
About two-thirds is heading to the Asia-Pacific region. The remainder, which is sold spot, is going either to Europe or Asia.
ExxonMobil, which opened its huge Golden Pass LNG receiving terminal in the US Gulf last year, does not currently have any plans either to re-export or export LNG from the plant, Rosenthal said.
However, he added: “But again, we’ve got a lot of gas and we’re continually evaluating all the opportunities to bring that to market.”
