Petrobras is shelving the option of floating liquefaction to exploit new supplies of gas from ultra-deepwater fields in the Santos basin.
The Brazilian company is due to receive commercial bids for the potential construction of an FLNG vessel on 25 August.
Gas and energy director Maria das Gracas Foster said the technology remains an option in the future for monetising large volumes of gas located about 300 kilometres from shore.
However, in the short-term the company intends to build an offshore pipeline system in the area.
