Eidesvik Offshore has won a letter of award to supply a source vessel to ocean-bottom seismic technology firm Magseis Fairfield this summer.
The 93-metre survey vessel Veritas Viking (built 1998) will be employed for two to three months on an upcoming ocean-bottom survey at an undisclosed location in the North Sea .
The contract commences in mid- to late July and includes extension options. Its value was not revealed.
In November, Veritas Viking was chartered to CGG for five months plus extension options, which look likely to have been exercised.
AIS tracking data shows the vessel has been conducting surveys in at the Tampico fields in offshore Mexico since late December.
Eidesvik said the vessel's contract with Magseis Fairfield would commence in direct continuation of its current charter.
The company logged a slightly lower first quarter net loss of NOK 49.7m, against NOK 51.06m in 2018.
It said the market for PSVs in the North Sea experienced a welcome increase in both rate and utilisation levels.
"This was the case in both the spot and term market, and we see signs of improvements for parts of the PSV market. We remain cautiously optimistic for the market for large PSVs," it added.
