Shearwater GeoServices has won another two-month contract to undertake more survey work for Equinor.
The Oslo-listed company's 126-metre survey vessel Amazon Conqueror (built 2015) will conduct a 4D seismic survey at Equinor's Troll Unit, around 65 kilometres west of Kollsnes, off the west coast of Norway.
The survey will be conducted using Shearwater's sophisticated Isometrix multi-component streamer system.
"The award of the Troll Unit project from Equinor adds to our extensive 4D and Isometrix program for the 2019 summer season," said Irene Waage Basili, chief executive of Shearwater GeoServices.
"We are encouraged by our strong seasonal backlog, which reflects an overall increase in 4D survey activity."
This new contract adds to Shearwater's programme of work for Equinor this year.
In February, the Norwegian energy producer contracted Shearwater to carry out surveys at its Kvitebjørn & Valemon and Visund fields in Norwegian waters of the North Sea, and at its Snohvit field in the Barents Sea.
These surveys will be conducted by Amazon Conqueror and another of Shearwater's seismic survey vessels, SW Amundsen.
Last month also saw two of Shearwater's ocean-bottom seismic (OBS) survey platforms awarded one-month survey contracts for Equinor's Gullfaks field in Norway. Start-up is expected in the third quarter.
