Havila Shipping has fixed two of its platform supply vessels (PSVs) on period charter to Axxis Geo Solutions, which is undertaking seismic surveys on behalf of big-name energy companies.
The 3,250-dwt Havila Aurora (built 2009) was chartered to AGS on a six-month contract with four optional three-month extension periods attached, starting this month.
At the same time, the 3,250-dwt Havila Fortune (built 2009) has had its existing contract extended by a further six months from June.
The contract extension also includes four optional three-month extension periods.
Period employment for the two vessels will be welcome news for Havila and its lenders, who have begun a new round of negotiations at the same time as up to 12 vessels face being sold off.
Havila Fortune came out of lay-up in June 2018 for a six-month charter with AGS, which extended the contract in December by another half year.
AIS tracking data shows the vessel was conducting survey work in the Utsira field in the North Sea between June and September last year.
AGS is undertaking a 1,560-km2 multi-client survey project in the region on behalf of Aker BP, which is the largest ocean bottom node survey in the North Sea.
Since November, Havila Fortune has been assisting in survey work at two fields off the west coast of India on behalf of the country's Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.
The value of the contracts and their extensions were not disclosed.
