Solstad Offshore has locked one ship into a long-term contract at the same time as disposing of a platform supply vessel (PSV).

The Norwegian owner said the 4,800-dwt PSV Normand Leader has been chartered by ConocoPhillips for four years, plus three annual options.

ConocoPhillips will take delivery of the ship in April 2018 but the commercial terms of the deal will be kept confidential, Solstad said.

Separately, the Oslo-listed company has sold the 4,250-dwt Normand Carrier (built 1996).

The veteran ship was laid up over the past few months while it was one of the vessels affected by the suspension of the South Stream project in late 2014.

Solstad noted in its latest quarterly report that demand for offshore ships has picked up in 2017 and announced that it secured 500 employment days in late May.
