Belgium's CLdN Ro-Ro will this month launch a direct service between the Netherlands and Ireland with newly delivered tonnage.
Vessels will begin operating on the direct service between Rotterdam and Dublin as of 26 February, the shortsea ro-ro operator said on Thursday.
The change will increase services from three to four per week in each direction.
The company said ro-ro vessels will be utilised on three of the weekly sailings, plus one lo-lo vessel per week, but did not reveal specifics.
CLdN Ro-Ro commented this would improve the spread of the sailings and increase capacity "at a time when Brexit uncertainty is a major feature in clients' planning".
"This expansion will allow customers to maximise equipment turnaround without having to rely on land-bridge solutions going forwards, thus strengthening the direct Irish Continental trade," said CLdN Ro-Ro, which is part of Cobelfret.
It has four ro-ro newbuildings, each with 5,500 lane metres, on order at Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea, all of which are due for delivery this year.
The company's Zeebrugge-Dublin service remains unchanged for now but CLdN intends to develop the route as new tonnage enters its fleet in the future.
In January, CLdN cancelled the first of two ro-ro vessels due to be delivered this year from troubled Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik Group.
