A new Royal Caribbean cruiseship has paid fees of $964,000 to transit the Suez Canal.
The Suez Canal Authority said the 169,000-gt Spectrum of the Seas (built 2019) passed through the waterway from north to south during its maiden voyage on Friday.
It is carrying around 3,700 passengers and 1,700 crew.
The ship left Germany on 10 April and is destined for Shanghai, China.
Revenues from the canal were $4.3bn between July 2018 and March this year, up 3.7%.
The waterway is aiming to increase revenue by $1bn annually.
