Australia's Scenic Cruises has announced another delay in the delivery of its first cruiseship being built at the troubled Uljanik yard in Croatia.
The company said the 17,100-gt Scenic Eclipse has been pushed back from April to 15 August, according to Luxury Travel Advisor.
It had previously revealed a delay from a scheduled handover last month, while its original delivery date was 2018 after being ordered in 2016.
Scenic has brought in specialists from Finland, Italy, the UK and Norway to take the lead role in completing the ship alongside yard workers.
“We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience these delays to the launch of Scenic Eclipse have caused our guests," said a company spokesperson.
"As a company we have done everything possible to complete the ship within the time limits that were set previously, but a series of events that are outside our control have put us in a position where we must delay."
Scenic says it will provide guests with a full refund for cancelled cruises.
Despite the delay, Scenic is going ahead with a second cruiseship at Uljanik in 2020 and is carrying out detailed design work on "several" new vessels at the yard, Uljanik said this week.
The yard has been hit by liquidity problems, causing strikes and order cancellations.
But it has now found a new strategic investor in the shape of compatriot shipbuilder Brodosplit.
