Stena RoRo continues to expand its ropax fleet, having committed to another newbuild from Chinese shipyard AVIC International.
The Swedish owner signed a contract for a ninth Stena E-Flexer vessel, adding to an order of eight such vessels with the option for two more.
The ship, which will operate on LNG and have 2,750 lane metres of capacity, has been assigned for a long-term charter with Brittany Ferries. Delivery is set for autumn 2023.
"The shipyard has been able to meet our demands for flexibility and thereby enabled us to serve our customers with tailor-made products," Westling said.
Stena RoRo ordered the first eight E-Flexers from 2016 to 2018. The first ship in the series was launched in January.
The first six ships weigh 42,400 gt and have a capacity of 3,100 lane metres each, with space for about 120 cars. The seventh and eighth ships will have 3,600 lane metres capacity.
Passenger capacity is about 1,000 people for each ship.
Stena RoRo also has five ro-ro vessels.
