Finnish technology group Wartsila has acquired a UK shipping electronics company.

It said Ships Electronic Services (SES) specialises in navigation and communication electronics, installation, maintenance and repair services, mainly for commercial and leisure vessels.

Turnover is £10m ($13m) and the company employs 47 staff.

The enterprise value of the transaction is £3.2m.

“Wartsila has a long history in providing electrical and automation services in the UK," said Wartsila Marine VP for Europe and Africa, Tamara de Gruyter.

"The acquisition strengthens our in-house service competences and local coverage. We are able to support our customers even better with a full range of electrical, automation, navigation and communication services.”
