Wilhelmsen Ships Service has struck a deal with Hitachi High-Tech Analytical Science's to supply equipment allowing crew to test the sulphur content of bunker fuel while onboard ship.
Sulphur content can be tested during bunkering operations, rather than leaving the vessel to deal with specification issues after the fuel has been loaded.
“Crews will be able to eliminate the risk of accidental non-compliance,” commented Jonas Ostlund, product marketing manager, oil and water, marine products for Wilhelmsen Ships Service.
The devices also comes with an embedded GPS to pinpoint exactly where analysis is performed.
