Oslo-listed Eidesvik Offshore is on the hunt for a new chief executive after Gitte Gard Talmo resigned.
The offshore shipping company’s boss joined Eidesvik 22 years ago and has been CEO since the start of 2022.
She is leaving to assume an unspecified position with an “international company” outside Norway.
“Gitte has done an excellent job as CEO of Eidesvik Offshore and I would like to express my gratitude for her dedication and the results she has achieved during her tenure with the company,” said chairman Arne Austreid.
Gard Talmo added that the shipowner is “in a strong financial and strategic position with a competent team that will continue to develop the company. I wish Eidesvik Offshore all the best in the coming years.”
She will continue in her position as CEO for now while the board initiates a search for her replacement.
Gard Talmo has been contacted for further information.
She took over from Jan Fredrik Meling as CEO when he retired at the age of 65 after holding the position since 2005.
Gard Talmo was previously chief commercial officer, having taken on that role in 2015.
She was appointed to head the company after a search for internal and external candidates.
During her time as CEO, Eidesvik exited the seismic survey business with the sale of its fleet.
It has also doubled down on decarbonisation efforts.
Ammonia first for shipping
Last month, owner and Finnish technology group Wartsila signed a contract to convert an offshore platform supply vessel to run on ammonia as fuel in what they believe will be a world first.
Wartsila will supply the engine, complete fuel gas supply system, including a 200-cbm bunker tank, and exhaust after-treatment for the conversion of the 6,000-dwt Viking Energy (built 2003), which is on charter to Norwegian energy company Equinor.
The month before, Eidesvik had moved a step closer to a world-first in ammonia propulsion.
The Norwegian Maritime Authority confirmed the feasibility of the clean fuel system to be retrofitted on the ship.
