KevinSpeers, a spokesperson for Maersk Line Ltd, says police found “drugs andparaphernalia” close to where the bodies of Jeffrey Reynolds and Mark Kennedy were uncovered.

Speerssaid, according to Sky News: “We are saddened by the tragedy and our thoughtsare with the family and friends of the deceased men.”

Reynolds and Kennedy, two former Navy Seals, diedwhile the famous vessel was docked in Port Victoria on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the local police sayspost-mortems are planned but there was no evidence of physical trauma on eitherman’s body.

The 1,068-teu containership Maersk Alabama(built 1998) made headlines in 2009 when it was hijacked by Somali pirates inthe Gulf of Aden. The drama later served as the centerpiece of ‘Captain Philips’, aHollywood blockbuster starring Tom Hanks.

The Boston Herald says Kennedy enlisted in1995 and saw his last active military service in 2008.

He had medals forserving in campaigns in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, the paper reports.

Reynolds, who was in the navy between 1990 and 2000, won two medals forgood conduct in that time, the Herald says.

Reports have not yet revealed the type of drug whichwas discovered in the cabin . There are also no reports any drugs have beenfound in the guards' systems.
