According to IMB, the attack took place on 27 August, only a day after two other failed pirate attacks just hours apart in waters off Nigeria's southeastern coast.
Twelve armed pirates boarded the tanker, took all the crew hostage, stole cash and then escaped, the IMB report said.
The hijackers destroyed the vessel’s navigation equipment before leaving the ship, but did not hurt any crew members.

Ivory Coast has added 40 new vessels to its navy in order to confront the increase of criminal activity off its coast.
