A seafarer has been killed and two others injured in a blaze on a suezmax tanker in India.
The fire broke out on Shipping Corp of India's 147,000-dwt Maharaja Agrasen (built 1995) near Buchar island on 13 April.
Chief engineer Prakash Patyal died two days later, while the other two crew remained in intensive care, the Mid-Day website reported.
They have been named as second engineer Subhash Ravthan and colleague Tejo Charuvilayal.
The ship had been anchored at jetty four to discharge Saudi Arabian crude.
Police told the website: "We have registered a case of accidental death record (ADR) and have initiated an inquiry into the matter. The ship belongs to the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI).”
The vessel has moved out to anchorage 15 miles offshore.
Investigators plan to visit the ship.
It has 90,000 tonnes of oil on board. The crew numbered 39.
