The Information Sharing Centre (ISC) reports the 7,301-dwt products carrier Orkim Harmony (built 2009) has lost communication with its owner since yesterday.
Its last known position was 17 nautical miles southwest of Pulau Aur, Malaysia.
Pirates hijacked another of its ships, the 7,119-dwt Orkim Victory (built 2009), just nine miles from that spot.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and the Indonesian Navy have deployed patrol boats in search of Orkim Harmony.
It is carrying 6,000 metric tonnes of petrol and its crew consists of Indonesians, Malaysians and Myanmar nationals.
The company did not reply to TradeWinds’ calls seeking comment.
