Three of the ships detained during the month for failing Port State Control (PSC) inspections were classed by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS).
The highest number of deficiencies was found on the RMRS-classed 7,635-dwt general cargoship Sinegorsk (built 1991) which was found to have 31 problems, including six that gave grounds for detention.
The Sinegorsk lost 1,000 tonnes of timber overboard when it floundered in a fierce storm off the UK in 2009.
But 20 of 21 deficiencies on the DNV-GL classed 2,895-dwt RMS Baerl (built 1999) were grounds to detain the general cargoship. A former master of the Baerl was jailed for drunken driving in 2012.
The biggest ship held was the Omicron-operated 28,107-dwt bulker Starway (built 2001) classed by BV.
Three of the vessels remained under detention at the end of November.
