Norwegian ship manager OSM Maritime has launched a jobs platform to match seafarers to vessels quicker than ever before.

Drawing on new technology, the company said it can solve shipowners' urgent need for available and qualified candidates.

Employers will be able to quickly check potential crew members' certificates, courses attended and vessel experience.

OSM Recruitment is being rolled out to owners worldwide that handle crewing in-house.

At the same time, OSM Maritime is growing a global pool of seafarers who are interested in new work opportunities.

Within a short time, more than 40,000 seafarers have registered their profiles with OSM Recruitment.

Unique offering

"The combination of an up-to-date global pool of seafarers, efficient technology and maritime expertise is unique," OSM Recruitment director Eirik Steen Noding said.

"The feedback from seafarers and shipowners is very positive. Many shipowners are struggling to recruit crew, and we believe the time is very good for launching the services now."

OSM has more than 15,000 employees in 21 office locations, with more than 600 vessels under management.

In March, the manager launched a new technical ship-management business in Denmark to grow its fleet of high-end chemical tankers.

OSM Chemical Tanker Management was established in Copenhagen with the aim of amassing 30 vessels over the next three years.

It had seven tankers on board at launch and said an important initial client was Copenhagen-based Navig8 Chemical Tankers.

Last year, OSM bought Frontline and Golden Ocean Group's in-house ship-management company, SeaTeam Management.
