Sale-and-purchase brokers in the US and UK say the 72,000-dwt coated tanker Polar(built 2005) has gone to Greek buyers for $15.3m, which is over $2m than the current market average.
Observers were quick to point out that the vessel was held by pirates from October 2010 through August 2011, involved in a collision in 2012 and has been on the block for some time.
As we reported, it is widely believed that the Polar had been sitting in lay up in Singapore.
Attempts to reach Paradise for comment were not immediately successful Monday evening.
