Clarksons Platou is aiming to capitalise on the growth in offshore wind shipping with a new advisory service.

The company launched the operation called AIR on Wednesday.

Overseen by Clarksons Renewables, it is targeted at clients already working in the sector, or looking to break into it.

The new service will be led by three former European offshore wind company executives: David Matthews from GE Renewables, Mikkel Nielsen from Iberdrola and Gabriel Andersen from Orsted.

AIR will offer development of engineering, procurement, construction and installation strategies, as well as operation and maintenance guidance, for both fixed and floating wind plants.

Vessel and logistics procurement planning, including tender management and execution, will also be part of the package, as well as commercial market intelligence and industry research.

This will be carried out in tandem with Clarksons’ brokers and research unit Clarksons Research.

AIR will also provide technical, operational and commercial due diligence for new vessel designs and equipment concepts.

Frederik Andersen, managing director of Clarksons Renewables, said: “Clarksons’ DNA stems from 170 years of global shipping and offshore activities including 20 years of pioneering the offshore wind sector.”

“Our combined resources represent the largest full-service marine shipbroking, logistics and advisory firm in the offshore renewable energy sector," he added.

Cross-sector experience to be drawn on

AIR will use the group’s experience from deep-water shipping, port services, investment banking, research, IT and oil and gas.

Clarksons Renewables division has eight teams worldwide, based in Aarhus, Aberdeen, Hamburg, Houston, London, Oslo, Shanghai and Singapore.

These are further supported by in-house resources available in New York, Seoul, Rio and Tokyo.
