Cosco Corp has agreed on the delay of a bulk carrier under construction at one of the company’s yards.
The Singapore-listed shipbuilder said Cosco Zhoushan will extend the delivery date of the bulker from the second quarter of 2017 to the second quarter of 2018.
It explained the decision was taken at the request of a European shipowner in response to current tough market conditions.
According to Clarksons, Lomar Shipping has a 63,800-dwt bulker under construction at Cosco Zhoushan.
It was not possible to reach a Lomar executive over the phone and the company had not replied to an e-mail from TradeWinds at the time of writing.
OPG Power Ventures also appears to have two bulk carriers under construction at Cosco Zhoushan.
They were ordered in 2014 for around $28m each, as TradeWinds reported at the time.
Comment has been sought from Isle of Man-based OPG.
