Giuseppe Bono looks set to remain as CEO of Italian yard group Fincantieri after his current term of office expires.

Bloomberg reported that Italy’s government is leaning toward renewing his mandate at the state-controlled firm.

This was seen as another sign of growing influence for the business-friendly League party over its anti-establishment coalition partner, the Five Star Movement.

And deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini said the idea of possibly replacing Bono was off the table, according to Reuters.

Bono was reported by La Repubblica to have made clear he will resign if 5-Star Movement went ahead with a plan to transfer some of his powers to the chairman and replace current chairman Giampiero Massolo with Rome transportation company ATAC head Paolo Simioni.
