Asia's largest maritime exhibition and conference Marintec China has been cancelled as China looks to stamp out the latest Covid-19 outbreak.

The trade fair, which was scheduled to take place from 7 to 10 December, has been pushed back by six months.

As the rest of the world opens up and resumes travel, China is maintaining a zero-Covid strategy.

The country is reportedly battling a fresh Delta-driven Covid outbreak that has spread to 21 provinces.

China is implementing new measures to stamp out the virus before the Beijing Winter Olympics in February that has seen major events being cancelled or postponed.

A Marintec official confirmed to TradeWinds that the event has been pushed back.

Marintec is one of the world's largest maritime trade shows that attracts a large number of ship equipment suppliers.

Its last event in 2019, hosted 2,200 exhibitors and attracted around 72,000 visitors from 100 countries.

Nor-Shipping is due to be the next major international maritime convention to take place. However, it is being held in January 2022 instead of its usual summer slot.
