The Houston Ship Channel was shut again on Sunday as a storm hit clean-up operations following an explosion and spill at a petrochemicals plant last month.
Bloomberg cited Mitsui & Co's Intercontinental Terminals Company (ITC) as saying all outbound vessels from the northwest end of the waterway were halted and inbound traffic was limited to ships and barges already heading to final destinations.
Decontamination stations used by the US Coast Guard to make sure ships do not carry any toxins into Galveston Bay or the Gulf of Mexico were also closed.
The waterway has either been shut or under strict transit limits since the accident in Deer Park, Texas, three weeks ago.
Reuters reported at the time that petrol, water and fire suppressant foam ended up in the Channel.
ITC crews were draining tanks holding xylene and naphtha when severe storm hit on Sunday.
An inspection of the site was due on Monday.
