Copenhagen based Norden is reported to have sold two of its medium range (MR) product tankers under a charter back deal.

The Nord Nightingale and Nord Snow Queen - both 38,000-dwt 2008 built vessels - are said to have been sold to leasing company Msea Capital of Cyrprus.

It is understood the price is $13m for each ship and that the deal involves a three-year charter back to Norden priced at $13,400 per day, with options for a further year.

The deal would appear to fit in with the “asset-light” strategy recently outlined by Norden chief executive Jan Rindbo.

Following the sale of its 58,800-dwt Nord Express (built 2007) and the 36,600-dwt handysize vessel Nord Mumbai (built 2011) Rindbo told TradeWinds: “It is part of our strategy to become increasingly asset-light by growing the part of the business based on chartered vessels."

Rindbo was travelling and unavailable to comment on the sales of the Nord Nightingale and Nord Snow Queen.
