Hunter Group has contracted OSM Maritime to undertake the full technical management of its state-of-the-art fleet "smart" VLCCs.
The eight vessels are currently under construction at DSME in South Korea and will be delivered towards the end of 2019 and into 2020.
The Hunter vessels will be managed from OSM’s base in Arendal, Norway.
“We have our sights set on making a real impact within the segment when the new vessels arrive, and we need a partner with the technical management expertise to really fulfil the potential we see ahead of us," said Erik A S Frydendal, chief executive of Hunter Group.
The 336-metre-long VLCCs will be fitted with open-loop scrubber systems.
TradeWinds reported at the end of May that Hunter Group was set to sell two of the tankers for $98m each —which would be the highest figure paid for such ships in half a decade.
