Stolt-Nielsen is said to have quietly scrapped one of its oldest vessels.

Shipbrokers and demolition specialists say the 31,400-dwt Stolt Vinland (built 1992) has been sent for demolition in India.

While an exact price has not been placed on the deal, VesselsValue believes the tanker carries a demolition price of $3.46m.

Attempts to reach Stolt-Nielsen for comment on the reports this week have so far been unsuccessful.

The STX-built Stolt Vinland is one of eight tankers built in 1992 in the owner’s fleet.

Its overall stable of almost 90 ships is worth almost $1.3bn, according to VesselsValue.

Stolt-Nielsen has set up Stolt Tankers as a stand-alone company with a view to further consolidation or an initial public offering.
