Chief executive Nikolas Tsakos said during the owner’s second quarter conference call the two departing vessels are the 164,400-dwt Triathlon (built 2002) and the 37,400-dwt Delphi (built 2004).
While individual prices were not disclosed the company said the two ships combined fetched $43m.
Tsakos said all of the company’s vessels over 10 years of age were sales candidates.
TEN has been busy buying ships too and confirmed on Friday the purchase of two VLCCs from York Capital and two second hand suezmax additions, previously reported to have come from Yasa of Turkey.
Tsakos said he saw further opportunities in the market, with owners with exposure to the dry bulk sector adding to the number of willing tanker sellers right now.
On Friday the Greek owner reveal a profit of $41.3m for the three months to the end of June, against a modest gain of $200,000 in the same period of 2014.
