He takes over the chairmanship on 1 October from Lord Mountevans, who has held the post since February 2014.
Dingle was appointed Chairman of Carnival UK in October 2014, having previously been CEO from June 2007 with responsibility for P&O Cruises and Cunard.
He is also director and former president of the UK Chamber of Shipping, and sits on the board of the European Community Shipowners Association (ECSA).
He said: “This is a hugely exciting time for the UK maritime sector, with the launch of the government’s Maritime Growth Study and London International Shipping Week, and I am honoured and thrilled to be taking on the chairmanship of Maritime UK.
"The knowledge, experience and expertise in the UK maritime sector is second-to-none, but more than ever we must be united as an industry to ensure that the UK remains an attractive and competitive destination for maritime businesses."
He added that the organisation gives the industry one voice through which to speak to government.
