Germany’s ER Group and Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement are teaming up on crew training in the Philippines.

The partners have formed a crewing agency based in Manila called ER Crew Management (Philippines) Corp.

It has received a licence from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and ER Schiffahrt will be its exclusive customer.

“The crewing agency allows us to meet the qualitative requirements of our customer through appropriate training while increasing identification with the company,” said Vicente Dayo, president of ER Crew Management.

Dayo was previously a manager at Schulte’s crew service centre in Manila.

The new company will have 20 staff to oversee recruitment and training of 1,600 existing seafarers.

About 25% of officers and 98% of ratings on ER-managed ships have their roots in the Philippines.
