His appointment was confirmed at the SSA’s annual general meeting on Tuesday night. He takes over the post from Patrick Phoon.
Poulsson is a well-respected senior figure in the global shipping community with more than 40 years of industry experience.
The affable Dane has become a significant figure within Singapore shipping circles over the last few years since his departure from Torm.
He is a board director at First Ship Lease Trust (FSL Trust) and X-Press Feeders and acts as senior advisor to Straits Tankers.
He also serves as executive chairman of NS Lemos subsidiary company Enesel and chairman of Singapore-based commodities and shipping company Avra International.
In addition to Poulsson the SSA also appointed seven members to its council including AP Moller Singapore’s Rene Phil Pedersen, Hong Lam Marine’s Caroline Yang, IMC’s Lim Sim Keat, Iseaco Holding’s Katie Men, Pacific Carriers’s Tan Chin Hee and PIL’s Lisa Teo.
The SSA marks 30 years of service to the maritime industry this year as the same time as Singapore mark’s 50 years of independence from the UK.
