Danish giant AP Moller-Maersk is adding more logistics knowhow to its boardroom at a time Maersk Drilling is set to be spun-off.
Former TNT executive Bernard Bot and Marc Engel, who is credited with laying foundations for growth at Unilever, are both set to become directors of the Copenhagen-listed company.
Jim Hagemann Snabe, chairman of Maersk, said: “Bernard and Marc add critical capabilities to the board in line with our strategic priorities to become the global integrator of container logistics.”
In a statement Maersk pointed to Bot’s international outlook, transport experience and business to business technology knowhow.
He has been chief financial officer of Aer Lingus and TNT Express and currently holds that post at Travelport Worldwide.
Engel was noted for adding supply-chain operations, procurement, logistics, finance and strategy development. He is presently chief supply chain officer at Unilever.
The appointments come with Maersk pushing on with the listing of Maersk Drilling, which is expected to be floated in Copenhagen early next month.
It will be the third of four energy businesses to be separated from Maersk as it transitions from a conglomerate to the “FedEx” of transport and logistics.
