Arkas Line and its vessel sharing agreement partner Cosco Group are joining forces to help shipping companies keep their cool in the Black Sea.
The Turkish boxship owner and the Chinese shipping giant will launch a seasonal reefer service on 24 October for customers moving perishable cargo over that body of water from Turkey to Russia.
The Mersin-Russia Express, MER Service will be able to move goods in four days from the Turkish port of Mersin to Russia's Novorossiysk port.
The transits will take place on a weekly basis.
Each company will contribute a vessel with about 450 reefer plugs to the joint venture.
Sealand-A Maersk will have an assigned slot on this service, Lucien Arkas-led Arkas said.
A month ago, Arkas ordered two 3,100-teu boxships from Huangpu Wenchong in China for delivery in February and May 2020 at an undisclosed price.
