The Danish company said it has entered into a slot charter agreement with its Nordic counterpart from 11 October.

DFDS will lease the space on a Finnlines ship's deck, it said.

This latest deal gives DFDS the opportunity to redeploy its single ship operating between Germany and Russia.

But the company will maintain its office and business in St. Petersburg and will independently operate its sales and cargo handling divisions.

DFDS added: “With this agreement DFDS upholds its presence in an important market in spite of the decline in trade between the European Union (EU) and Russia.”
