Greek media report the 32,694-gt Olympic Champion (built 2000) remains idle due to unpaid charter fees of around EUR 2.3m ($2.5m).

It is believed that the latest development is related to older charter agreements for Grimaldi-controlled vessels hired by Anek.

The Olympic Champion serves the route between Greece and Italy and was scheduled to start its voyage last night.

TradeWinds’ phone calls to Anek went unanswered while the Grimaldi Group had not replied to an e-mail at the time of writing.

According to vessel tracking website marinetraffic.com, the Olympic Champion remains anchored at the port of Patras.
