Sea Consortium Pte,doing business as X-Press Feeders, has taken the 4,113-teu Ville d’Aquarius (built1996) on a six month charter.
Thecharter, which started on 7 May 2014, is at a gross charter rate of $7,490per day.
“Weare delighted to have fixed the Villed’Aquarius on a short-term charter in what continues to be a challengingspot charter market environment,” said GSL chief executive Ian Webber.
“Furthermore,we are pleased to establish a commercial relationship with a new charterer, SeaConsortium, the largest independent feeder operator in the world, operating afleet of over 60 vessels.
“Thismarks an important first step towards our goal of diversifying our charterportfolio, while also expanding our contracted revenue stream.
“Establishingthis relationship with Sea Consortium is particularly appealing to us, as theyare active in the non-mainlane and intra-regional trades, areas we see as beingcentral to our vessel acquisition strategy going forward.”
GSLowns a fleet of 17vessels with a total capacity of 66,349-teu of which 16 are on charter to Frenchliner giant CMA CGM.
