Container shipping online booking portal Inttra, set up by the biggest box carriers in 2001, is being sold to E2open, which describes itself as the largest cloud-based provider of networked supply chain solutions.

Inttra, which has developed into the leading ocean shipping network, operates across 177 countries.

It claims to have more than 35,000 active shippers using 60 carriers and 150 integrations with transportation management and port system partners.

One out of every four ocean containers shipped globally is now booked through Inttra.

E2open boasts it has more than 70,000 partner companies and 200,000 users, including many big brands and manufacturers, using its system to fulfill most complex supply chain operations.

It says the acquisition of Inttra will extend E2open’s logistics capabilities, consisting of transportation management, visibility and forecasting, and including a network of more than 3,500 large carriers across more than 40 countries to book, tender, track, and invoice shipments.

“We aim to bridge the gap between manufacturing and logistics with execution capabilities on a unified platform with real-time end-to-end visibility," said Michael Farlekas, chief executive of E2open

"Shippers will be able to better leverage ocean shipping efficiency, ocean carriers will be able to improve customer experience, and freight-forwarders will be more effective in multi-modal and integrated logistics operations."
