Containerships CEO Kari-Pekka Laaksonen has resigned nine months after the Finnish line was bought by French giant CMA CGM.

Laaksonen is staying on until a successor is found and the board will meet on Friday to examine the matter.

CMA CGM is proposing that Claude Lebel takes over.

He is the CEO of another CMA CGM company, short sea line MacAndrews, which is being merged into Containerships following the June 2018 takeover.

"The board of directors of Containerships...would like to thank Kari-Pekka Laaksonen for all his work and engagement as CEO," Containerships said.
