Hawaii-mainland container line Matson confirmed this week that deliveries had fallen behind schedule because of a combination of bad weather and mechanical problems on vessels, according to Hawaii News Now.
The owner said four ships were now docked in Honolulu and it was working to get deliveries out to stores and restaurants as quickly as possible.
Honolulu-based distributor Armstrong Produce said it had been dealing with repeated shipping delays caused by weather since December.
“I cannot remember this kind severe weather being this long lasting,” its CEO Mark Teruya told AP.
The company has resorted to flying in produce from the mainland in order to keep stores supplied.
