Lomar Shipping has found employment for the first newbuilding in a series of nine under construction in China.
Rizhao Haitong Ferry has fixed the 1,700-teu Sabre Trader on a four to six-month deal, Alphaliner says.
Sources tell TradeWinds a rate in excess of $12,000 per day is believed to have been secured for the vessel.
Rizhao will employ the Bangkok Max vessel on its China-Vietnam-Thailand service, Alphaliner reports.
Lomar will take delivery of eight more vessels in the same series from Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipyard by 2020.
The shipowner declined to comment on the Sabre Trader transaction or how it will set the other newbuildings to work.
